March 15, 44 B.C. was the day Caius Julius Caesar was knifed by a clique of Roman senators intent on saving the Republic from dictatorship.

Figuratively, the knives are also coming for another powerful scion of Italy in Albany, NY – Andrew Cuomo, 3-time governor of the state.  Instead of a clique of patriotic senators, Cuomo’s undoing comes at the hands of seven angry women.  Until his untimely demise, Caesar was a man of genius as well as ambition.  When young, he was kidnapped and ransomed by pirates.  Once freed and safely home, he doubled back to the pirates’ lair with an avenging force and had them all crucified.  Later in life, he famously conquered Gaul and later triumphed in a civil war.  The only thing Cuomo has in common with this giant of history is a taste for the ladies.

Caesar’s unflattering nickname was “the bald adulterer.”  Clearly, he was not to be trusted near desperate housewives, and we know of his love affair with Greco-Egyptian queen Cleopatra.  Cuomo, on the other hand, has an eye for Irish lasses – he once married a Kennedy, initiating “Cuomolot.” His accusers also seem to be of that ethnicity – what are the chances of a harassed paesana in the wings?

Fearing her own Ides of March, after a close call on January 6th, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has imported a Pretorian Guard of 2,000 homesick soldiers to protect her indefinitely.  We know for certain that the riot of January 6th was preventable, had the FBI and Capitol Police been less derelict in their duty.  But is turning the Capitol into “Fortress Pelosi,” as some call it, overcompensating?  Is Pelosi truly fearful or just clever?  Distraction is the essence of politics, as well as sleight-of-hand.  There is still much to manipulate in the Democratic 100-day “change America” project.  A “moderate” Joe Biden was only a bait-and-switch election gimmick.  Indicative of her magical hold over Biden, Nancy taught her grandkids to say “Open Biden!” instead of “Open Sesame!” to access the cookie jar.

Meanwhile, Pelosi is aiming a partisan dagger at Congresswoman Marionnette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), who won her seat by only six votes.  Despite a recount and certification by Iowa, Pelosi – with a straight face – is willing to unseat Miller-Meeks “administratively,” so she can increase her House majority.  Challenging state certifications is legal, and the Dems did it in 1985 to unseat a Republican from Indiana.  But, wasn’t the fiasco of January 6th all about tampering with elections – “undermining democracy”?  The Omission Media doesn’t have time to spotlight such hypocrisy in national news.  Who would believe it, anyway?

Also, with knife drawn, Nancy’s colleague Norma Torres (D-CA) has been peddling HR-1189 to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day.  As a stand-alone bill chances are slim, but will it find its way into a larger unrelated bill?  Will it be “Et tu, Nancy” in the end?

A Republican who needs to watch his back is Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.  The unbalanced media scorched DeSantis for opening Florida beaches to spring breakers in 2020.  It has virtually ignored the governor’s success in keeping businesses and schools open without sending Covid fatalities through the roof.  By every measure, DeSantis has outperformed Cuomo’s New York and Newsom’s California.  Even today’s Associated Press reports that “mask & lockdown” California had about the same fatalities as Florida, but decimated its schools and businesses.  This month, the Dems accused DeSantis of vaccinating some residents of Key Largo for campaign contributions.  The story was quickly debunked, but it won’t be the last attempt to wound the Trumpist governor, who may be The Donald’s anointed successor.

Finally, this month of the long knives has seen a distorted focus on anti-Asian violence by idolized primetime TV anchors.  They blame the violence, directly or subliminally, on White supremacists and former President Trump’s habitual use of the term “China Virus”.   However, actual videos of violent attacks and testimonies from Asian Americans point to a protected class of perpetrators: “But how does [blaming Trump] explain the attacks by Black people? Were they also acting as Mr. Trump’s white supremacist henchmen? – Jay Caspian Kang (NYTimes 3/6/21).  “…the Left has been eagerly labeling these attacks as hate crimes – without acknowledging the race of the attackers – in order to attribute racism to President Trump and his supporters,” author Ying Ma (Chinese Girl in the Ghetto).
