There are only two feature films that reflect negatively on Somalis: Black Hawk Down and Captain Phillips. The former deals with the U.S. involvement in a Somalia civil war (1992), the latter about Somali pirates hijacking commercial shipping in the Red Sea in 2009. But don’t expect any negative movies about Somali American crime.
Once again, the national news media has spared us the real story on what appears to be the biggest organized ethnic rip-off since the Anglos fleeced Native Americans. If you don’t live in Metro Minneapolis you probably don’t know what I’m writing about.
Thanks to Chris Rufo, the Italic investigative journalist—he’s the guy who exposed the machinations of the WOKE cultural revolution—the nation is finally hearing how Somali crime families stole one BILLION dollars in Covid and Medicaid money from U.S taxpayers in less than a decade. Somali mothers, fathers, and unknowingly, their children all participated in scams to apply for autism, food bank, medical, and housing giveaways funded by state and federal largesse.

To show how late to the news these revelations have come, 59 people have already been convicted by the feds. Of the 86 indicted, only 8 are not Somalis. One of the few Whites involved is Aimee Bock, who heads a nonprofit in Minneapolis. Bock was convicted for stealing $250 million to “feed” Somali children during Covid. The thieves used their ill-gotten gains to buy homes, cars, jewelry, vacations and to send remittances to relatives in Somalia. Rufo contends that some of the money went to Somali terrorists.
Their famous offspring, representing some 80,000 Somalis who took refuge in the Minneapolis area during the Black Hawk civil war, is House Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar. Omar’s family fled Somalia and grew up in a Kenyan refugee camp. These indigent refugees were welcomed into the U.S. in 1995 where Ilhan became a citizen and college graduate. Her terms in the House have been marked by decidedly anti-White rhetoric and cries of racism. Yet, her family assets are in the millions. A former Somali staffer, Salim Said, pleaded guilty to 21 counts fraud and money laundering. Just how much Omar received in campaign donations from the Somali crooks may be Rufo’s next exposé.
Somalia has an Italian connection. That East African country was partly an Italian colony dating to 1889. With trade deals and a military presence, Somalia soon became an Italian protectorate. Mussolini eventually took full control of the country incorporating it into Italian East Africa along with Eritrea and Ethiopia.
In 1930, there were 22,000 Italians living in Italian Somaliland, representing 2% of the territory’s population. By 1935, there were over 50,000 Italian settlers constituting 5% of the territory’s population. According to Wikipedia, the colony was also one of the most developed in Africa in terms of the standard of living of both the colonists and local inhabitants.
The other part Somalia belonged to Great Britain. The two pieces were joined after World War II and Italy given the trusteeship leading to independence in 1960. During that time, Italian was an official language. By the 1950s, the majority of Somalis had some understanding of the language.
While I would not describe any immigrant group as “garbage,” as has President Trump, there is an attitude among various groups that America is here for the pickings. Even the hardworking Irish found easy pickings when they took control of local politics. But, for all the crimes committed by Italians, I can’t think of any wholesale larceny of public institutions. The Black Hand preyed on fellow Italians. Even Al Capone didn’t fleece Chicago. Nor did the Chicago Outfit or New York’s Five Families empty government treasuries.
In contrast, these newcomers are computer savvy and have sized up our welfare system. They know how to play the race card and how to manipulate liberal media. In the case of the Somalis of Minneapolis, or for that matter the Orthodox Jews of Upstate NY, they know the power of voting blocs. Even Governor Mario Cuomo gave the Orthodox enclaves extra privileges for Jewish votes.
To keep this edge, the newcomers reject any in-house versions of a Coppola, Scorsese, or Chase. They know that only fools would destroy their own image. ‒JLM
I really hate the ethnic/and now religious card in American politics , it’s done a lot of damage and provided a lot of cover for fraud and fiscal abuse as you note…..and some immigrant groups have been better at it than others.
That is a defect of the political correctness malaise in our society. I can never forget, being a victim of it as well. Once an entire department had to go to sensitivity training because we had to investigate a child abuse case by an abusive Muslim father against his child…..the father went to his local imam, and the imam and his cohorts went to the local board of supervisors. They stumbled over appeasing the father, the iman and the Muslim community..and we had ‘sensitivity training”(Which was interesting by the way) but no one cared a damn for the kid… including their religious institutions. Not one word about the issue of child abuse. And that goes for not just political correctness regarding Muslims…..I could cite Fundamentalist Christians and Jews too,
At the same time the backlash to this sort of behavior, is dangerously approaching national scapegoating…and when a president of the USA labels an entire community garbage it is very tragic. Just check around the globe today, when a leader becomes the spokesperson for hate groups look to history to see the consequences. Scary as hell…..as the common ground in civility in American politics keeps shrinking, karma is going to have a horrific field day across the political spectrum. Civility is not just a word, it’s a matter of survival.
