An alarm is sounding as Communist China makes inroads into Africa. Just like the old Soviets did back in the 1950s and 1960s, the Chinese offer to build infrastructure in developing nations, funding the projects with Chinese loans. When the Africans find themselves drowning in debt, the Chinese often take ownership of the railroad, port facility, or mine and establish a commercial and military toehold in the country.
These are the same methods Europeans used to establish colonies in Africa, Asia, and the Americas centuries ago. American liberals would like us to counter the Chinese in Africa by competing with them dollar-for-dollar, like we haven’t already dropped billions on sub-Saharan Africa. The sad truth is that Africa has been “developing” for millennia and will continue to be a basket case. It used to be about slaves, gold, and diamonds. These days it’s about oil, cobalt, lithium, and whatever other minerals go into batteries.
What is missing in any comparison of Chinese and Western exploitation of ssAfrica (my term for sub-Saharan Africa) is African emigration. Neither the old Soviet Union nor Communist China ever opened their doors to substantial Black immigration. How do you sell the Communist “brotherhood of man” when the evidence indicates otherwise?
The world loves to talk about White racism, but who is taking in the emigrating Blacks of ssAfrica? The U.S. has 2.1 million of them (that we know of). These folks are assumed to be legal: U.S. citizens or in the process. In Red China, no one knows the number of ssAfricans: it ranges from an imaginary 500,000 down to a realistic 10,000, confined to the city of Guangzhou (old Canton) – most, if not all, on temporary or expired visas. A Black Chinese citizen is a rarity. According to Ms. Yaqiu Wang of the Human Rights Watch: “For those who think the official line from Beijing is bad, check out the Chinese internet, where the rampant racism against Black people is often too appalling to repeat.”
“Racist” Western countries are the only hope for Black Africans. Thousands have perished in the Mediterranean desperate to reach Italy, which is home to 524,000 Black immigrants. The UK has 1.4 million Blacks, France 1.1 million, and Canada 435,000. These immigrants not only relieve ssAfrica’s population crunch but they send back millions of dollars and euros in remittances to their homelands.
Italian and European immigrants did the very same thing by coming to the Americas, resulting in spreading the New World wealth. But Red China is not open to immigrants. It increases its own wealth abroad while securing the ethnic purity and supremacy of its Han-dominated homeland. Are globalists okay with this non-White racism?
Who is calling on President Xi to take in the “huddled masses” of Black Africa? Surely, Red China needs to reverse its population decline brought about by its 1980 “one-child policy.” What better way than tapping into the human surplus of ssAfrica? Here’s a suggestion: those ssAfrican countries that welcome Chinese loans should be compelled to export their immigrants to China instead of Europe and America. Only the deluded believe that Communism is colorblind. Let Africans and globalists discover what the truth is – Chinese loans would dry up.
And while we are at it, let’s even out our own immigration and exchange student balance with Red China. There are 330,000 Chinese permanently living in Italy today plus 12,000 Chinese exchange students. There are 290,000 Chinese students studying in the U.S. and some 300,000 in the UK and EU. The technical knowledge these students are adding to China’s on-going industrial/intellectual theft is guaranteeing Xi’s goal of global dominance by 2049 (the centennial of the Communist takeover). Shouldn’t we be pressing President Xi for global “equity,” or will that pop his propaganda balloon?
The reality is there are too many forces in the U.S. and Europe as well as Red China that need to keep things the way they are. White racism is the gold standard of victimization. It cannot be diluted with non-White bigots. Moreover, Climate Change ‘protocol’ demands that “endangered” populations flee to the U.S. and Europe, not to Asia or South America. And as for Chinese exchange students, they pay the full tuitions that maintain our universities and academics as the self-appointed arbiters of this perverse global morality.
Human migration is now a form of 3-D Chess. We have yet to master the game. -JLM
Boy that is tackling some significant issues….kudos for trying…… to add to the stew, some of the oil-rich “red crescent” states, are so tight and politically motivated that when they provide charity it just adds to the general hypocrisy. The horrific earthquakes in Syria and Turkey are a case in point, relief degenerated into political alliances.
Western colonialism opened up a pandora’s box, but it certainly was not the only show in town, ask the Tibetans what they think of China…or the Eastern Europeans what they think of Stepmother Russia………..as for Bella Italia, one of the reasons some of my family immigrated was because they were being conscripted to fight in 1912 or so, in Libya. I have the draft riot trials from the book La Paura di Veribicaro. What’s equally fascinating is the names of the 100 or so arrested, read like a who’s who of family names of immigrants in San Francisco, even today……yet it was never discussed at home. I only stumbled upon the book from correspondence over a book I wrote, Flavors From A Calabrese Kitchen (out of print).
When a family member was drafted in those days it represented a laborer who was out of productivity, and for subsistence farmers (contadini) that was a big hardship. Italian Colonialism is also an area we know very little about, especially in terms of how it impacted the decision to “get out of Dodge”!
Indeed, the wholesale human migration is a serious global problem. Just reading about Japan’s declining population and how they resist accepting foreigners. Clearly Black Africa is the only place births outstrip deaths, no doubt due to Western medicine, economic largesse, and charity. The West is the only hope for immigrants and yet we are relentlessly called racists.
As for immigration to avoid the military draft – you are spot on. I’d guess 50% of male immigrants over the centuries were draft-dodgers. How many Italians came over in the early 1900s to escape the Italian draft only to be drafted by the Americans in 1917? My great uncle probably thought coming over in 1912 saved his life when war broke out in Europe 2 years later. The irony is he was killed in a French trench in 1918 wearing a doughboy uniform.
When will the world wake up to the great danger China poses to the free world? The inroad into South America and Africa are very dangerous. The buying of property in the US, especially near military installations, the money given to American colleges are other examples. So many important products like medicine is made in China. The list goes on. What will take to wake the American people up to this great danger?
