It’s been nearly two years that the world has suffered the tragedy of the China Virus. This plague has killed close to 5 million people on the planet, including 744,000 Americans and 131,000 Italians. And, no “experts” see an end in sight. Even the 1918 Flu petered out after a year without any vaccines. Is Covid-19 our bubonic plague?
Known as the Black Death, that plague wiped out one-third of Europe over a period of seven years. If you count the waves that struck periodically, it lasted some 300 years (from 1347 – 1666). Granted, Covid doesn’t stack up to the Plague, but imagine if we didn’t have modern sanitation, ICUs, vaccines, or therapeutics. If medieval Europeans had the medical knowledge we have today, even the Plague would not have lasted as long as Covid has today. A sad commentary.
Every Communist Chinese embassy in the world should be under siege by now – the masses demanding reparations for what the Wuhan virus has wrought on mankind. Governments around the world ought to be fixated on gaining unfettered access to the Wuhan Lab and China’s so-called “wet markets.” Isn’t anyone afraid that new viruses can pop up every year from China, like the flu does? We know as much about the origin of this deadly virus than we did when it first erupted. Another sad commentary.
Our cugina, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, isn’t at all curious about Covid’s origins. She has blocked the Covid-19 Origin Act of 2021, initiated by a concerned Senate, from being taken up in the House. There, she would rather keep the January 6th Capitol riot investigations percolating and hold the Infrastructure Bill hostage forever. She seems satisfied with the anemic results of the President’s quicky Intelligence agency search for a Covid origin – it turned up nothing. That “investigation” was about as serious as a Where’s Waldo game. Just as unimpressive has been the World Health Organization’s Hide & Seek visits to Wuhan. Nobody knows nothing.
Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal did a summary of what we know of Covid’s origins. If it came from a wet market, a host animal would have been found by now. The WHO tested 80,000 animals from 209 species around Wuhan, including wild, domesticated, and market animals – the infamous bat among them. Not a single critter carried Covid-19. That makes the Wuhan Virology Lab the prime suspect: “The odds enormously favor a lab leak…” write the authors.
Beijing is shocked that anyone would think the virus even came from China. It points to Italy, and perhaps a U.S. lab, as the culprit. As the story goes, Italian athletes attending the October, 2019 Military Games in Wuhan brought the virus. In fact, a number of Italian competitors came down with Covid-like symptoms while at the Games. However, Italian doctors never encountered Covid-19 in Italy until two Chinese tourists tested positive for it on January 31, 2020. A week later an Italian citizen (probably Chinese-Italian) returned from Wuhan and had to be hospitalized. Then, all hell broke loose in northern Italy.
Today, Italy is in turmoil over vaccine mandates and the requirement that every resident produce a “Green Pass” to work. Thousands of Italians have staged protests, which have devolved into riots. Unlike U.S. vaccine mandates, the Italian medical authorities recognize antibodies from a recent Covid infection as proof of immunity. (Cugino Anthony Fauci hasn’t boned up on antibodies, yet. He may want to consult with his Italian cugini.) Nevertheless, the country is just as divided as we are over vaccines.
So, with such social and political turmoil in the West, coupled with the enormous financial devastation the virus has wreaked on us, why isn’t there a groundswell of bitterness toward Red China? It’s part political correctness – fear of anti-Chinese American bigotry – and lots of corporate media distraction.
Viacom “News” (CBS), Comcast “News” (NBC), and Disney “News” (ABC) or their subsidiaries have business interests in the vast China market. Investigating the origins of the China Virus could be financial suicide. Likewise, the Biden family and even Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have a personal stake in Chinese goodwill.
The Italian government is also hesitant in antagonizing Beijing, despite its false accusation of Italy being the source of Covid-19. Italy needs Chinese investments and a market for Italian luxury goods. The once-mighty West has become suicidal.
