I how four Italian American ladies figured in recent news stories: Jill Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Gina Raimondo, and Lisa Monaco. You may not know the latter two, but they are among the movers and shakers in Washington, DC.
At last Thursday’s 2024 election debate President Joe Biden showed his mental decline in real time. In other news, in a newly released video from January 6, 2021, then-House Speaker took responsibility for not securing the Capitol beforehand with National Guard troops.
Up to this point, the American public has been informed repeatedly that Biden may be a senior citizen but still “sharp as a tack,” and that Nancy Pelosi fended off an “insurrection” on January 6th. Even with the new revelations those perceptions have not been totally debunked. The public is still divided by ideology.
In the case of Joe Biden’s debate performance there have been calls by some Democrats for Biden to quit the presidential race before the convention so a younger candidate can bear the standard in November. Among those who oppose such a move are wife Jill Biden and son Hunter. Jill, especially, appears to be the power behind the Biden throne.
She styles herself Dr. Jill Biden (Ph.D in Education). Her ancestral surname was originally Giacoppo, changed to Jacobs. She is very protective of Joe, but she has been criticized for covering up his mental decline and allowing him to debate for 90-minutes without notes. Speculation for sure, but numerous video clips of them together show an old man who depends on a doting wife more than his Secret Service. She is no Melania Trump content to only decorate the White House. Dr. Jill is a dominant Italic woman, eight years younger than Joe. She is the loudest voice at his rallies and I’ll bet she will shepherd old Joe through another term just as wife Edith controlled the presidency for incapacitated husband Woodrow Wilson in 1919.
As for that other dominant Italic lady, Nancy Pelosi, I believe her legacy is now in jeopardy. The video cited above was filmed by her own daughter Alexandra. It only fell into Republican hands this month and made public. Pelosi and Democrats are playing it down but it begs lots of questions. Former President Trump has claimed he offered 10,000 National Guard troops to the DC mayor and the Capitol Police, who Pelosi oversaw, before the riot but was refused. In the video, even Pelosi asks her chief of staff why more protection wasn’t in place—that’s when she owned up to the lapse.
Alexandra had this to say in a NYTimes interview about the embarrassing video: “I tried showing her. But she’s the harshest editor…This is not an authorized documentary… I don’t think she’s going to sue her daughter, but she’s not going to be happy.”
Republicans claim Pelosi spent “20 million taxpayer dollars” for her January 6 Select Committee to convert a riot into an “insurrection” to indict President Trump; and that this video was never shown to the public.
In other news, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo lost a Supreme Court ruling (LOPER BRIGHT ENTERPRISES v. GINA RAIMONDO, SECRETARY OF COMMERCE, ET AL). This momentous decision reins in government agencies and allows Americans to contest their onerous regulations – like fishing quotas and climate dictates. (Raimondo was formerly governor of Rhode Island and is a conservative Democrat. If Biden steps down Raimondo on a new ticket might even attract Republicans.)
Then, there’s the mysterious place of Lisa Monaco behind the throne of the Dept of Justice. She is second only to AG Merrick Garland but with a lot more savvy. Monaco would have been the first woman to serve as FBI Director if the infamous James Comey didn’t get the job. She’s also part of the Homeland Security team so her cloak & dagger credentials are among the best. In 2018, she predicted the Covid pandemic. I wouldn’t be surprised if Monaco is behind the Donald Trump indictments. It was her assistant, Matthew Colangelo, who relocated to NYC to help convict Trump in the Stormy Daniels scandal. She could give Machiavelli pointers!
